Chicks on Waves x CAUDALIE

Each year, choosing your sunscreen is the first step towards preparing for your holidays. However, between endocrine disruptors, varying sun protection factors and ocean pollution, choosing your sunscreen can quickly become a headache…

So, this year we teamed up with CAUDALIE who is offering you a sunscreen that protects your skin and the oceans too!

Caudalie is a French skincare brand, originally from the Bordeaux region. It all began when Mathilde Thomas discovered that grape seeds contain the most powerful antioxidants in the world.

Mathilde grew up in the heart of the vines, as her parents own the famous vineyard of Château Smith Haut Lafitte. So instead of throwing the grape seeds away, she started to create anti-ageing cosmetics and the rest is history.

Now Caudalie is a renowned brand with more than 50 boutique-spas worldwide.

Caudalie is committed to offering the most natural formulas possible, whilst guaranteeing they remain both effective and luxurious.

“I believe in a greener planet and more committed cosmetics.” – Mathilde Thomas, Founder & CEO of Caudalie

The company dedicates 1% of their global sales to funding reforestation projects. Since 2012, they have planted and protected over 4 million trees in all 4 corners of the world.

Caudalie joined forces with Coral Guardian through a programme that restores and protects coral reefs. In 2019, thanks to Caudalie’s support, more than 3,000 corals will be transplanted, restored and protected in Indonesia.

This year, Caudalie is offering all our guests the Milky Sun Spray SPF50, a 2-in-1 protection that can be used on the face and body.

We love its summery fragrance of frangipani flowers and its light, non-sticky texture. Not to mention, it is water-resistant and is suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive.

Equally protective for the skin and nature, its formula is highly biodegradable and non-toxic for the marine ecosystem. Indeed, Caudalie has banned controversial filters from its formulas. This includes chemical filters suspected of being endocrine disruptors and the filters known to be toxic to the marine environment.

And as with all Caudalie products, no parabens, phenoxyethanol, phthalates, mineral oils or animal-derived ingredients are used.

  • Non-toxic formulas for the marine ecosystem

The sunscreens do not contain oxybenzone, nor octinoxate. These 2 chemical filters are used in more than 3500 sun creams. They contaminate sea algae, in particular an algae called zooxanthellae. Corals are dependent on this algae for nourishment and to breathe.

  • Water-resistant

The suncare formulas are water resistant and do not contain hydrosoluble filters which are responsible for polluting the ocean.

  • Highly biodegradable

The formulas are highly biodegradable for minimum environmental impact and to help preserve the marine ecosystem.

  • Suitable for all skin type

The exclusive formula enriched with organic grape water provides optimum hydration and soothes sensitive skin while preventing premature skin ageing. Suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive, for safe exposure to the sun without risk of the skin becoming dehydrated.
